The Spanish Super Cup (Spanish: Supercopa de España ) is an annual football competition established and organised by the Royal Spanish Football Federation in 1982.
Until 2019, the Super Cup pitted the Spanish champion against the winner of the Copa del Rey, similar to the competition in several European football associations. The competition was played between mid- and late August, before the start of the league season.
Since 2020, there have been four participants: the winner of the national cup and championship, the finalist of the national cup, and the team that finished second in the championship. The event is played in January during the football season.
As of 2024, the tournament has been held 38 times, with 10 different teams winning. The record for victories belongs to Barcelona, which has triumphed in 14 editions of the competition.
